Below is a description of the Beginner Guitar Lesson series as well as a description of each individual lesson. All lessons can be purchased individually using our Eyeguitar Store Widget at the bottom of this page below the descriptions. You can sample the first lesson for FREE on YouTube here.

The Beginners Guitar Series
This is the fastest method to learn to play, on any type of guitar, by utilizing modified classical techniques.
This series allows the inexperienced student to quickly learn to play solo pieces, chords, rhythms and accompaniments and to learn to read music. These easy-to-understand lessons cover all the basics required to learn to play the guitar, and will open the door to learning more advanced techniques.

Lesson 1

  • This lesson introduces the student to the series with advice on how to approach the lessons.
  • Covers types of guitars and parts of the guitar.
  • How to hold the guitar and the correct technique for the left and right hands when playing.
  • Notes on the first string with practice exercise.

Lesson 2

  • This lesson covers tuning the guitar and begins our study of music reading.
  • Notes on the second string with exercises.

Lesson 3

  • In this lesson we combine the notes on the first and second strings incorporating solutions to common problems students encounter at this stage.
  • Timing for notes and time signatures.
  • Exercises for playing on two strings.
  • We learn to play our first song, Jingle Bells, to help in the study of timing and reading music.

Lesson 4

  • In this lesson we begin our study of chords.
  • We cover the basic finger strumming technique for the right hand and spend time to develop the correct fingering with the left hand.
  • We look at common problems and solutions when playing chords and when changing between chords.

Lesson 5

  • In this lesson we use the chords previously covered to play the song “Drunken Sailor.”
  • We learn the notes on the third string and include exercises playing these notes and combining them with the notes on the second string.
  • We then go on to learn a rock pattern on the first three strings.

Lesson 6

  • In this lesson we learn to strum some simple rhythm patterns with the right hand in order to add some more interesting dynamics to the rhythm.
  • We learn a new chord and cover the problems common in playing it and when changing to the chords previously covered.

Lesson 7

  • In this lesson we begin by learning the familiar tune “Happy Birthday,” played on the first three strings.
  • We then go on to add additional chords to our library.

Lesson 8

  • In this lesson we continue with “Happy Birthday” but applying chords. We look at two variations for the rhythm pattern.
  • We also cover the notes on the three lower strings with practice exercises.

Lesson 9

  • In this lesson we learn a rock pattern on the bass strings using our thumb.
  • We go on to cover left-hand exercises to strengthen your fingers.
  • And we learn to do a hammer on and a pull off with exercises to develop the strength to perform them properly.

Lesson 10

  • In this lesson we learn to use the thumb and fingers of the right hand independently to play arpeggios.
  • We add another chord and use the arpeggio technique to play “Silent Night.”

Lesson 11

  • In this lesson we learn a new tune “Auld lang syne,” played the first three strings using all fingers of the fight hand independently.
  • We add two new chords and look at sixteenth-note timing.

Lesson 12

  • In this lesson we learn to play some rock patterns using a pick.
  • The first pattern is a shuffle followed by an up tempo rock pattern.
  • We then add two new chords and how to change between them.

Lesson 13

  • In this lesson we cover sharps and flats and learn a single note version of “Greensleeves.”
  • We then add another chord and an exercise to help in chord changes.

Lesson 14

  • In this lesson we learn a standard rhythm pattern that can be applied to many songs. This utilizes both quarter note and eighth note strokes.
  • We then go on to look at bar chords.
